Some kind words from students
“I had never played ukulele before, and in the first lesson, I was playing along with Alice. She provided songs that were at my skill level and continued to increase the difficulty as I was able. I took weekly lessons on Zoom with Alice. After six lessons I can play over 20 songs! She is very knowledgeable and respectful of your learning style, and makes learning the ukulele fun.
Alice is an exceptional ukulele instructor. I highly recommend her.”
– Kate, USA
“I signed up for ukulele lessons because I wanted to learn how to play songs when spending time with family and friends.
The best thing I’ve learned was how to strum. Reading about strumming on websites doesn’t compare to being able to ask questions and get feedback.
I really like how Alice gets to know students’ goals and tailors lessons to match with students’ needs.
I’ve learned how to play and sing my favorite pop songs to friends.
I was always hesitant to invest in music lessons, but it’s been one of my best decisions.”
– Wesley C. Bruce
“I was nervous about taking an online class, not having done this before. But from the moment we started the first session, I felt at ease with Alice. She was able to address any questions and taught at a comfortable pace.
I went into this only knowing a few chords. In 6 weeks I learned 12 chords, 5 different strums and a couple of methods of fingerpicking. I am now able to play several songs, building on the chords I learned each week.
I love how Alice was receptive to the songs I wanted to learn. Her handouts and videos on YouTube were also very helpful in practicing the chords and strums. I looked forward to each class and know you will too.”
– Vee K., Woodland, CA
“My daughter gifted me with a set of Alice’s ukulele lessons for my sixty-eighth birthday. It was a wonderful surprise as I had never played a musical instrument in my life!
I have continued with Alice ever since. Music has become a lively part of my retirement.
I have learned that practice helps my memory and allows me to play the tunes I love so much, like the Beatles. I also enjoy the challenge of learning different strumming patterns. But most importantly, I look forward to having a lesson each week with Alice, all the way from New Zealand. It’s a fun experience and she has proven to be a patient, kind, masterful teacher.
An adult learner is different from a younger student in many ways. Alice is always ready to answer my questions, encouraging progress in my playing while building my confidence.
I have learned to master songs, play numerous chords, keep rhythm, and even sing along. I am learning to read tablature and fingerpick with little effort. I also love to play along with Alice as we tackle familiar, fun, and challenging music!
